The Power Of The Pen

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful and committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has".  Margaret Mead

The Good Shepherd Social Justice Network’s Advocacy group has focused on Fair Trade for the last few months.

We have encouraged organisations to buy Fair Trade, applauded those now producing Fair Trade products and implored big supermarkets to stock more Fair Trade.

We welcome your involvement. Please consider joining the advocacy/letter writing group in person, via email or phone.

The group meets on the third Thursday of each month at 11am at the Centre for Justice and Fair Trade at 261 Victoria St, Abbotsford, Victoria.

Contact Mary Natoli on (03) 9417 6949 or Rosie Hoban on

(03) 9481 8943 for meeting details.

Many people in other states have joined the group via email and receive copies of letters to send out. Thanks to those who are helping spread the word!

Can We Talk To You?

Anti-trafficking Speakers Bureau

Do you want to learn about the trafficking situation in Australia and beyond? There are women, men and children being trafficked around the world this very day. Certainly, it’s a difficult issue to get your head around, but women are being trafficked into Australia and it is important that people understand the impact on the lives of the women involved.

The Good Shepherd Social Justice office and its partner group, the Australian Catholic Religious Against Trafficking in Humans, has a speakers’ bureau and can provide a speaker for your school, church or community organisation. The talks are tailored to suit the audience and cover a range of issues. Our speakers also offer participants ways to help combat trafficking.

Stancea Vichie is coordinating the speakers’ bureau and can organise someone for regional Victoria and Melbourne. Contact Stancea at the Social Justice office on  9421 6873, or email stanceav@goodshep.com.au.

If you are in Queensland contact Pauline Coll on 07 3395 6872 or on Pauline@brisnet.org.au. Pauline is chair of the Australian Catholic Religious Against Trafficking in Humans.
