Current Ministries
Good Shepherd Sisters continue to be engaged in practical and prayerful
concern for persons who are on the margins of society. Sisters are found
in a variety of ministries including economic justice for women (particularly
via the Trading Circle), education for justice and peace, prison &
hospital chaplaincy, parish visiting, involvement with migrants and
refugees, counselling and social work.
Partnership
"The old stars burn out and die, look to new horizons and beyond".
Saint Mary Euphrasia. These words from the founder of Good Shepherd
Sisters take on new meaning for our Province at the beginning of the
Third Millennium. Changes in church and society see new expressions
of commitment emerging among us. The structures of present day religious
life do not attract persons wanting to make a life commitment. While
various theories abound, Good Shepherd Sisters in this Province see
lack of recruits as an invitation to trust God's spirit. We are in touch
with many people who live and express Good Shepherd charism. We believe
we can offer our lived experience, our collective wisdom, to today's
generation of persons enthused to bring about justice for persons on
the margins. This constitutes a partnership that enables our mission
and spirit to experience new life.
Partnership exists with our Agency Boards, our Agency staff and volunteers.
The Good Shepherd Trading Circle entails partnership across countries
as together we work for economic justice for women. The Social Justice
Network is another expression of partnership as we make connections
which bring life and justice to many.
