ROSEMOUNT Youth & Family Service Inc. (NSW)

• Day Programme - a structured 10 week programme aimed at assisting those young people who are at high risk of being trapped in a cycle of failure. After completion of the programme, the After Care worker follows the young people for 12 months to ensure that the information they learned stays with them.

ST CLARE'S SCHOOL (WA)

A unique secondary school which offers specialized small group learning to students who have experienced failure in the mainstream school system. Most students come from metropolitan areas of high unemployment. Many have dysfunctional families and/or disrupted family life with periods of homelessness. A significant number of students are of Aboriginal descent.

The emphasis at St Clare's is to encourage the students to accept responsibility for their behaviour and their education so that they will become productive members of the community and agents of change in their own lives.

St Clare's works under the aegis of the Catholic Education Commission of Western Australia and promotes a Christian ethos to its students. Its prime purpose is to enable young girls and young women, who have been excluded from or are unable to succeed in mainstream schooling, to gain basic literacy and numeracy skills or to complete their education.
