Continuing the mission of the Good Shepherd Sisters, today, around Australia and New Zealand.
Justice, Compassion, Reconciliation, Respect, Dignity

The Good Shepherd Trading Circle is a not-for-profit organisation established by the Good Shepherd Sisters in Australia in 1995. It actively supports women in need by helping them learn new skills and thereby trade their way out of poverty with both dignity and respect.

Our vision

Our vision is of a world free of injustice and poverty, where women and their families live with freedom and dignity, which is the right of every person.

Our work

The Trading Circle has grown from selling products carried in suitcases, stored in cupboards and sold exclusively at parish events, to a well organised network of stores and channels to market.

We have retail stores in Brisbane, Toowoomba, Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Auckland, and can ship anywhere via our website. We had a presence at over 55 external events in 2010 promoting the importance of Fair Trade and selling our unique range of handcrafted products.

Our strategy is to increase sales while maintaining a tightly controlled cost base. Our team is a mix of staff and volunteers.

Our contribution to Fair Trade

The Trading Circle actively supports 24 community projects across 11 countries and 4 continents. We buy products made by these projects and sell them through our various retail channels.

The Trading Circle Ethical Fair Trade Charter supports and promotes the 10 Principles of Fair Trade, as prescribed by the World Fair Trade Organisation.
